MARSHALL'S
BLOOMING ORANGE TREE
ROBERT
HOUDIN'S legendary effect reproduced
"ONE HUNDRED YEARS
LATER" in a masterpiece of mechanical perfection
EFFECT:
Robert Houdin's legendary BLOOMING ORANGE TREE is
reproduced "ONE HUNDRED YEARS LATER" in a Marshall masterpiece of mechanical
perfection. A beautiful potted orange tree covered with luxurious foliage and delicate
orange blossoms is displayed. Nine orange blossom darts, each with three blooms, are
removed from the tree, and tossed upon the stage or a board. Calling attention to the
fruitless tree, the magician commands it to rejuvenate itself. UPON COMMAND, THE TREE
SLOWLY BLOOMS NINE REAL ORANGES, which are picked and can be distributed to members of the
audience.
PERFORMANCE: Remove the darts and throw them into the floor or a board. Pull the locking lever to release the oranges. When performing keep the locking lever on the back of the tree, away from the audience, if possible. The spring flaps cover the oranges until they bloom. As the oranges bloom, they move aside. After the oranges have fully bloomed, the spring flaps move back in place. This gives this effect the ability to be performed while totally surrounded.
This effect is based on Robert-Houdin's orange tree mentioned in his book "Memoirs of Robert Houdin." Horace Marshall read this book as a youth and developed this model many years later. Our research shows him to be the first in modern history to recreate this legend. It is a unique and visual piece of magic that is very seldom seen by magicians or audiences anywhere.
